Introduction

In-ground cremation is like a traditional casket interment for those who are cremated, and offers a lot more flexibility than traditional burials.

Chilliwack Cemeteries offers several in-ground cremation areas, all with their own unique locations and specifications.

Markers can vary depending on the area not only in how they are set, but also the materials, size and pattern.

Most areas are suitable for up to two sets of cremated remains to be situated in a double vault.

We do highly recommend that, in the case of a double cremation vault, you can choose an urn made of impenetrable materials such as metal, stone or plastic.

We would be more than happy to discuss your options with you.

Cremation Options

Having a permanent site for cremated remains will give your loved ones a physical place to visit and remember, as well as giving future generations a special place to visit and get in touch with their heritage.

Requirements for In-Ground Cremation Interment

Here is what you’ll require for an in-ground cremation interment:

  1. A plot.
  2. A cremation vault.
  3. A cremation certificate.

The maximum interior dimensions for an inground cremation burial is determined by the size of the vault purchased.

Single vaults range in size from:

  • 8” x 8” x 8”
  • 11” x 11” x 11”

Double vaults are:

Markers must be flush with the ground, and the size and material may vary depending on the area.

In the case of family cremation spots, only direct descendants of the rights holder or those whom the rights holder has named, may use the available space.
